Action / Use
ACTION: Insecticide; Nematicide.
USE: Aphids, beetles, chinch bug, corn rootworm, grasshoppers, leafhoppers, lygus bugs, nematodes, sugarcane borer, thrips, weevils and wireworms in alfalfa, corn, cotton, cucurbits, potatoes, soybeans, sugarcane, sunflowers, and tobacco.
FORMULATIONS: Granule, flowable, wettable powder, flowable concentrate for seed treatments.
PREMIX PARTNERS: Fenamiphos.

Identification

COMMON NAME: Carbofuran (ANSI, ISO, BSI, ESA).

Chemistry

COMPOSITION: 2,3-Dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-7-benzofuranyl methylcarbamate.
CLASS: Carbamate.
PROPERTIES: Tech: Odorless, white crystalline solid. Melting point 153?154℃. Specific gravity is 1.180 at 20-20℃. Vapor pressure 3.1 x 10-7 mbar at 20℃. Readily soluble in dichloromethane; soluble in 2-propanol; barely soluble in toluene.

 

Environmental Guidelines

HAZARDS: Fish: LC50 0.24 mg/l (96 h) (bluegill); 0.38 mg/l (rainbow trout). Bird: Dietary LC50 438 mg/kg (Japanese quail)..
WATER SOLUBILITY: 351 ppm.

Safety Guidelines

TOXICITY: (Rat): Oral LD50 approx. 8 mg/kg. Dermal LD50 >3000 mg/kg.
HANDLING/STORAGE: Store in original container, preferably in locked area, away from children, food, feed.
