Action / Use
ACTION: Fungicide.
USE: For downy mildew on grapes; late blight on cucurbits, hops, potatoes, and tomatoes. Postinfection application halts development of disease for spray program flexibility. Curzate* reduces inoculum.

Identification

COMMON NAME: Cymoxanil (ANSI, ISO, BSI).

Chemistry

COMPOSITION: 2-Cyano-N-[(ethylamino)carbonyl]-2-(methoxyimino) acetamide.
PROPERTIES: Pure, white crystalline solid. Melting point 160-161℃. Specific gravity 1.31 at 25℃. Vapor pressure 6 x 10-7 mm Hg at 25℃ (extrapolated). Decomposes into natural plant constituents. Solubility: dimethylformamide 18.5g/100g solvent; acetone 10.5; chloroform 10.3; methanol 4.1; benzene 0.2; hexane < 0.1.

 

Environmental Guidelines

HAZARDS: Fish: LC50 18.7 mg/l (96 h) (rainbow trout); 13.5 mg/l (bluegill). Bird: (a.i.) LC50 2847 ppm (8 day) (quail); >10,000 ppm (mallard). Bee: Nontoxic.
SOIL PARTICLE ADSORPTION: Normal conditions, half-life in soil <2 weeks.
WATER SOLUBILITY: 1000 ppm.

Safety Guidelines

TOXICITY: (Rat): Oral LD50 1100 mg/kg. (Rabbit): Dermal LD50 >3000 mg/kg (a.i.).
SPILL CONTROL/CLEANUP: Solid spillage should be picked up with an industrial vacuum cleaner and disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
PRODUCT/WASTE DISPOSAL: Must be disposed of by special means (suitable incineration, etc.) in accordance with local regulations.
