Action / Use
ACTION: Fungicide.
USE: Used on a variety of fruits and vegetables. Zineb also results from combining nabam (or diammonium or potassium ammonium analogs) with zinc sulfate in the spray tank.
FORMULATIONS: Wettable powder.
PREMIX PARTNERS: Copper Oxychloride; Hexaconazole; Maneb; Sulfur.

Identification

COMMON NAME: Zineb (BSI, ISO-E, JMAF); Zinèbe (ISO-F).

Chemistry

COMPOSITION: Zinc ethylenebis(dithiocarbamate). Zineb also results from combining nabam (or diammonium or potassium ammonium analogs) with zinc sulfate in the spray tank.((1)1).
PROPERTIES: Light colored powder, practically odorless. Decomposes before melting. Terminal stability (40℃), 1-5% degradation after 1 month. Density (20℃), approx. 1.74. Practically insoluble in most organic solvents, slightly soluble in pyridine.

HAZARDS: Bee: Nontoxic.
WATER SOLUBILITY: Practically insoluble.

Safety Guidelines

TOXICITY: Tech (Rat): Oral LD50 >5200 mg/kg. Dermal >10,000 mg/kg.
HANDLING/STORAGE CAUTIONS: Store in well-aired, fresh (<30℃), dry area away from dwellings, animal shelters, and stored food.
Emergency Guidelines
FLASHPOINT: >100℃.
