Action / Use
ACTION: Insecticide.
USE: For aphids, ants, armyworm, billbugs, chinch bugs, corn borers, corn earworm, corn rootworm, cotton leafworm, cutworms, flea beetles, grasshoppers, grubs, lesser cornstalk borer, locusts, mole crickets, seedcorn maggot (slurry seed treatment), sowbugs in field crops, forage, nursery crops, ornamentals, vegetables, and dormant application to fruit trees.
FORMULATIONS: Emulsifiable concentrate, dust, flowable, granular bait, wettable powder, microcapsule, pellet, spray.
PREMIX PARTNERS: Abamectin; Acephate; Acetamiprid; Bifenthrin; Cyfluthrin; gamma-Cyhalothrin; lambda-Cyhalothrin; Cypermethrin; alpha-Cypermethrin; Deltamethrin; Dichlorvos; Dimethoate; Endosulfan; Fenobucarb; Imidacloprid; Methomyl; Phoxim; Triazophos; Trichlorfon.

Identification

COMMON NAME: Chlorpyrifos (ANSI, BSI, ISO-E, ESA); chlorpyriphos (JMAF, ISO-F); chlorpyriphos-閠hyl (France).

Chemistry

COMPOSITION: O,O-Diethyl O-(3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinyl) phosphorothioate.
CLASS: Organophosphate.
PROPERTIES: White granular crystals. Melting point 41-42℃. Soluble in acetone, benzene, chloroform, ethanol, iso-octane, methanol, and organic solvents.

Environmental Guidelines

HAZARDS: Fish: LC50 0.18 (24 h) (goldfish); < 1 mg/l (mosquito fish). Bird: Oral LD50 32 mg/kg (hen). Bee: Toxic.
WATER SOLUBILITY: 2 ppm at 25℃.

Safety Guidelines

TOXICITY: (Rat): Oral LD50 96-270 mg/kg. (Rabbit): Dermal LD50 2000 mg/kg. (Guinea pig): Oral LD50 504 mg/kg.
SPILL CONTROL/CLEANUP: Large liquid spillage should be dammed-off and pumped into containers; soak up remainder with absorbent material and dispose of in accordance with local regulations. Solid spillage should be picked up with an industrial vacuum cleaner and disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
PRODUCT/WASTE DISPOSAL: Dispose of by special means (suitable incineration, etc.) in accordance with local regulations.

Emergency Guidelines

FLASHPOINT: 102℃ (TCC).
FIRE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Foam, CO2, dry chemical.
ANTIDOTE: Atropine.
FIRST AID: Get medical aid. Eyes: flush immediately with plenty of water. Skin: wash thoroughly with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Inhalation: remove to fresh air. Ingestion: drink 1-2 glass of water; induce vomiting by touching back of throat with finger. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
