Action / Use
ACTION: Defoliant/Desiccant; Herbicide.
USE: For control of annual and perennial weeds, woody brush, and trees on over 150 crops. Use postdirected in tree and plantation crops, postemergence over Roundup* Ready soybeans, and postharvest in fallow periods and noncropland.
FORMULATIONS: Aqueous solution, water-soluble liquid, water soluble concentrate.

Identification

COMMON NAME: Glyphosate (ANSI, ISO, JMAF, WSSA).

Chemistry

COMPOSITION: N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine.
PROPERTIES: Glifonox*, Roundup*: Clear, viscous amber-colored solution; pH 4.4-4.9. Practically odorless to slight amine-like odor. Lider*: Colorless crystals. Molecular weight 169.08. Melting point 200℃.

WATER SOLUBILITY: Soluble.

Safety Guidelines

TOXICITY: (Rat): Oral LD50 >5000 mg/kg. (Rabbit): Dermal LD50 >5000 mg/kg. Severely irritating to eyes, nonirritating to skin.
HANDLING/STORAGE: Avoid eye, skin, clothing contact. Avoid breathing vapor or spray mist. Do not contaminate water, food, feed, or seed by storage or disposal.

Emergency Guidelines

FLASHPOINT: >200℃ (TCC).
FIRE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Water spray, foam, dry chemical, CO2, or any other Class B agent.
FIRST AID: Get medical aid. Eyes: flush with plenty of water for 15 minutes. Ingestion: immediately dilute by swallowing milk or water.
