Action / Use
ACTION: Herbicide.
USE: Controls annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in established alfalfa (except U.S.), apples, asparagus, established bermudagrass, caneberries, cherries, citrus, corn, cranberries, grapes, nuts, peaches, pears, ornamental and tree nursery stock, sod production, fairways, lawns, industrial areas. Aquazine* for control of algae in ponds.
FORMULATIONS: Wettable powder, water dispersible granule, liquid, and granular.
PREMIX PARTNERS: Ametryn; Amitrole; Atrazine; Diuron; Glyphosate; Isoproturon; Oxyfluorfen; Prometon; Sodium Chlorate; Sodium Metaborate; Terbutryn.

Identification

COMMON NAME: Simazine (ANSI, ISO, BSI, WSSA); CAT (JMAF).

Chemistry

COMPOSITION: 6-chloro- N,N'-diethyl-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine(1).
CLASS: Triazine.
PROPERTIES: Melting point 225-227℃. Solubility in chloroform, 900 ppm.

Environmental Guidelines

HAZARDS: Fish: Nontoxic. LC50 56 mg/l (48 h) (rainbow trout). Bee: Nontoxic.
SOIL PARTICLE ADSORPTION: Approx. 5-7 months at 4 kg/WP/ha.
WATER SOLUBILITY: 3.5 ppm at 20℃.

Safety Guidelines

TOXICITY: Minimal eye, slight skin irritant. Princep* Caliber* 90, Sim-Trol* 90: (Rat): Oral LD50 >5000 mg/kg; Inhalation LC50 2.5 mg/l (4 h). (Rabbit): Dermal LD50 >2000 mg/kg. Princep* 4L, Sim-Trol* 4L: (Rat): Oral LD50 >5000 mg/kg; Inhalation LC50 9.8 mg/l (4 h). (Rabbit): Dermal LD50 >2500 mg/kg.
HANDLING/STORAGE CAUTIONS: Harmful if swallowed. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Store in sealed original containers, in well-aired, fresh and dry storehouses or in shaded and well-aired places. Avoid sources of heat, free flames, or spark-generating equipment.
